The media world is full of molds. Molds that aspiring writers, film makers, or any other type of creators are expected to fill, contrary to its perceived open, unique nature. We're expected to cater to everyone's desires, meaning the producers, directors, "higher ups", and audience, leaving out the most important subject: ourselves. I want my work to bend the molds into so many shapes that it ultimately breaks. I’ve always had a fascination with television, and how much acting goes into broadcasting. I’ve spent my childhood looking for myself on TV, and always wondered why I never found her. My biggest inspirations have always been latin women on TV that uplift and give platforms to others, like Rosie Perez and Sunny Hostin (admittedly I also just love The View). When I find my place in TV, it will be my priority to create more opportunities for marginalized women, so no young girl will ever have to question her visibility ever again.
